France: The London Food World Tour starts

Anno nuovo, avventura nuova!

Nel "2000 Quindi" abbiamo deciso di partire per il giro del mondo! Senza mai allontanarci da Londra, pero'...

Ogni settimana scopriremo un nuovo paese, soffermandoci sull'aspetto piu' appetitoso: la cucina!
E quale posto migliore di Londra per incontrare - a distanza di pochi chilometri - gente, culture e soprattutto cibi provenienti da ogni angolo della terra?!

Ebbene, siamo gia' partiti per la prima tappa del nostro itinerario.

Domenica 4 gennaio abbiamo superato la manica e siamo sbarcati in Francia, per la precisione in alta Savoia, dipartimento alpino al confine con la svizzera, famoso per i paesaggi incantevoli, i monti impervi e soprattutto... la raclette!
Dei primi due, purtroppo, non possiamo dirvi molto, ma al ristorante "Bouchon fourchette", 171 Mare Street, London, E8 3RH, abbiamo provato un'ottima raclette.

Formaggio fuso accompagnato da salumi e patate bollite scaldate sulla piastra non suonano proprio come un piatto leggero, ma per una grigia domenica di gennaio ci sembrava piu' che adatto.

Non ancora soddisfatti, ci siamo lasciati andare ad un cafe' gourmand: "caffe' goloso" tipicamente transalpino, accompagnato da una selezione di 3 dolci, in questo caso creme caramel, gelato al lampone e torta al cioccolato.

Contenti della nostra prima tappa, ci prepariamo gia' a ripartire... La prossima settimana attraverseremo il Reno per giungere in Germania.

New Year, new avventure!

For 2015 we decided to go for a World Tour! Without leaving London, though...

Every week we are going to discover a new country, focusing on its... tastiest aspect: the food!

And what's better than London when it comes to meeting - in the space of a few chilometres - people, cultures and foods coming from all over the world?!

Well, we've already set off for the first stop of our journey.

On Sunday 4th January we crossed the Channel and landed in France, more exactly in Upper Savoy, alpine department on the Swiss frontier, famous for its enchanting landscapes, its impervious mountains and first of all... the raclette!

About the first two, we can't unfortunately tell you much, but at the "Bouchon Fourchette" restaurant, 171 Mare Street, London, E8 3RH, we definitely had a great raclette.

Melted cheese with cold cuts and boiled potatoes heated on a hot plate don't exactly sound like a light meal, but for a grey Sunday of January it seemed to us more than appropriate.

Still not satisfied, we indulged in a cafe' gourmand: the typically French "foodie coffee", served with a selection of 3 desserts, in this case creme caramel, raspberry ice and chocolate cake.

Happy about our first stop, we're already getting ready for the next one...  This time we'll cross the Rhine and go to Germany.
